Tip of the Week | 08/21/20
Hey everyone, I’m back for week 3 in our “Tip of the Week” series. I hope this series has been helpful for you to learn new tips to find focus in your life. Last week we talked about creating a pre- and post-work ritual and how it can help increase your productivity throughout the day (you can read it here). So, with that being said let’s jump into this week’s tip.
Tip: Practice Thankfulness
Thankfulness doesn’t need to just be done on Thanksgiving; it can be a daily habit. Especially in the times we live in, finding things to be thankful for is essential to putting everything in perspective. This has been something I’ve been practicing since I came home from college. The things you are thankful doesn’t have to be profound. A helpful list I found in Tim Ferris’s, Tools of Titans1 is think of an old relationship that helped me or I value highly, an opportunity I had today, something great that happened yesterday, something simple near or within sight (a sunny sky, a cup of coffee, food, etc.). As you see in this list, there is no hard and fast rule of what you can be thankful for every day. This exercise has been very helpful to me because no matter how difficult my day was there is always something to be thankful for, which gives me something positive to focus on at the end of the day. I would encourage you to try this next week and see if it helps you to find perspective throughout your day and develop a “glass half-full” mindset rather than “glass half-empty”. Have a great weekend and come back next Friday for our next weekly tip!
