How to Find Joy In Every Season
If life didn’t change one bit for you from this moment forward, your situation didn’t improve, your marital status didn’t change, your career didn’t see an advancement, your body didn’t get stronger, could you live in happiness?
You may say, if COVID-19 just went away then society would get back to normal and all would be good again. Do you remember what life was like before Corona came to town? It was chaotic, stressful, full of deadlines, worries, loss, and challenges.
So, happiness can’t be the removal of challenging seasons or circumstances, but a renewed vision in the midst of them. The ancients learned a manner in which happiness was based on who they found themselves rooted in, no matter what troubles life dealt them.
In Psalm 1:1, it speaks of being a blessed or happy person based on the friendships he doesn’t keep. Next, in verse 2 it speaks of the practices a happy person engages in. He “delights” and he “meditates” on the Bible. Delight is like the pleasure I get when I take a bite of frozen yogurt on a Sunday night. It goes down so smooth, and I want just a little bit more and a little bit more. Delight is like that. You want more and more of it and can never get enough of it. Delighting in God’s Word is when you can’t get enough of all of the good stuff God says about Himself and your relationship with Him. You want more and more of Him. Meditating is thinking, pondering, considering all of the greatness of God and His incredible wisdom and love for us.
So, when we delight and meditate on God and His Word, the Bible, then God says we have stability in all seasons of life. No matter the season, we prove to be fruitful in our lives (Psalm 1:3 “He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”.) We can be at rest and peace even in life’s season of winter where all seems bleak, as we acknowledge someone bigger than us. God has planted us in this season of life we are experiencing. He knows all about why He has you here in this season. It is this truth that gives me amazing comfort and deep peace.
Jesus is calling you now. Will you let Him plant your restless heart in His perfect love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? His perfect love awaits you. Once again, if life didn’t change one bit for you from this moment forward, your situation didn’t improve, could you live in happiness?
